Junior Academy Assistant
Melissa is extremely excited to join the Inquisiminds community this year! She received her Bachelor’s from Columbia University with a concentration in childhood education. She became an elementary school teacher after graduating from college. While working full time, she also attended classes part time to obtain her Master’s degree. Melissa has also received post-graduate certificates in Gifted Education and in Bilingual Education. She has taken a few classes in Special Education in order to pursue an advanced degree. She worked for 12 years in the New York City public school system teaching first grade, third grade, and English as a Second Language. Before choosing to stay home with her three kids, Melissa was a coach and mentor to new teachers at her school in New York. She became a stay-at-home mom after moving to Virginia. Melissa has a first grader and two preschoolers who love hands-on learning. She is looking forward to a wonderful year!
