Kenan Ozcan is a student at James Madison University (JMU) studying Integrated Science and Technology with a concentration in Biotechnology. He has worked as an Undergraduate Researcher at the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at JMU. His research involved the isolation and characterization of K5, a Kaposi sarcoma-associated herpes virus protein. During his undergraduate research, Kenan mentored a hearing-impaired student and also participated in the 21st Annual Undergraduate Research Symposium in the Chemical and Biological Sciences, University of Maryland – Baltimore County.
Kenan is currently taking a gap year from college while pursuing his passion of teaching students about the wonders of science. He will graduate from JMU in the Spring of 2020.
In addition to his love of science and technology, Kenan enjoys playing basketball, rugby and coaching youth sports teams.
