Etaine attended Grinnell College in Iowa and received a B.A. in Russian (language and literature) in 1997. During and immediately after college, she had a chance to study in St. Petersburg, Russia, and at Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland. She then went to graduate school and received a M.S. in Physical Therapy in 2001 from Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia, and, eventually, her Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2010 from the Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions. The highlight of her physical therapy career was working at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center with the men and women recovering from injuries sustained in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, particularly with individuals suffering traumatic amputations. She stepped away from that career soon after becoming a mom to Madeline, who is now almost 10, and Charlotte, who is 8 (both are Academy students). When her girls were in early elementary school, Etaine was invited to lead the 3 year old class at a local preschool in Northern Virginia, and found that she really enjoyed it! This is now her second year of homeschooling, and she is thrilled to have found the Inquisiminds community!
