Storytelling Photography 1
Teacher: Diana Sherblom
A virtual class for tweens/ teens (grades 7-12, 12yo and up ). All skill levels | all cameras (including phones)
Have you ever wondered why some photographs are so compelling? Or how photographers capture a single moment that tells a story?
The secret isn’t in the camera you use, but in how you use it to create a visual story that evokes emotional connection.
Join us and explore visual storytelling, concepts and tools to help you tell meaningful stories.
✔ learn through observation, discussion, hands-on learning, and critiques
✔ investigate how composition and natural light can create mood and tell a story about your subjects
✔ practice techniques with weekly challenges
✔create personalized projects including your choice of environmental portraits, self-portraits and storytelling in a series of photographs
Plus, I’ll share my approach, and the techniques that I’ve learned and refined over the years to create impactful personal and commercial storytelling images.
✰ Our last class will include an optional virtual gallery show, where you can share your favorite work with your family and friends.
✰ Printing your work is important! You will have access to my favorite professional lab with a deep student discount.
What you need for the class:
Beginners and avid photographers are welcome! Students should have access to a camera (a phone camera is fine) and wifi/laptop, be able to upload files to an online gallery and to use zoom for discussions. We’ll start our cameras on auto and go from there.
