Students will explore a wide range of poetry from sonnets, diamante, cinquain, haiku, limericks, and more! Through teacher-led instruction, student read-alouds, stories, and video clips students will learn the vocabulary of poetry and be exposed to this art. There will be time in class to try writing poetry.   Students will also explore art mediums that reinforce poetic ideas such as leaf printing, zen tangles, alcohol inks, oil pastel self-portraits, finger knitting, and painted feathers. Explore Limericks, and paint kindness rocks. Explore  Robert Frost’s poems and finger knit. Explore Sonnets by Shakespeare,  practice Shakespearean insults,  and try your hand at brush letter bookmarks. Explore  poems by African American writers and create art with Kente cloth patterns
