High School Abnormal Psychology
Teacher: Renee Jackson
This high school level psychology class is a continuation of the Quarter 1 and 2 Introduction to Psychology class, although it is not necessary to have taken the Intro class to join us. We will be considering “abnormal behavior” and how mental disorders are classified. The context of mental disorders from a historical perspective will help to understand from where many stigma and stereotypes derive. We will also look at current professional treatments for a variety of disorders and their basis in psychological theory and practice. During our discussions we will also examine the influences of modern culture on psychological disorders and consider if there has been improvement or not in the fields of mental health.
